In 1984, living in a tiny house in Funchal, Portugal, Dolores already had three children when she fell pregnant with Ronaldo. But with the family struggling to make ends meet and her poor gardener husband was an alcoholic, Dolores initially wanted to terminate the pregnancy. When she went to the doctor to go ahead with the plan, he firmly stood against this decision and refused to go ahead with the procedure. She even agrees to have tried a self-induced abortion once the medical staff said ‘no’, as she drank boiled black beer and ran until she felt like she would drop. Obviously, and fortunately, her plan didn’t work out. On February,5, 1985, in the wonderful Cape Verdean Island of Madeira, C Ronaldo was born. Being the youngest of four children borne by his parents, Ronaldo was endeared to his father who named him after the then-U.S. president Ronald Reagan. That male child, Cristiano Ronaldo is one who has not only ruled the world of football for more than a decade but etched Cape Verde Island in legends map of greatness. #CristianoRonaldo #cr7
