Thor is back. The first trailer for the upcoming “Thor: Love and Thunder” landed on Monday, giving us a glimpse of what happened to the Avengers of Asgard after the events of Avengers: Endgame 2019. The Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is set to hit theaters on July 8.

Set against the backdrop of Guns N’ Roses’ 1987 song Sweet Child O’ Mine, the trailer shows Thor bouncing back from the “Thor Brothers” period in the endgame and hanging out with the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. It also alludes to Russell Crowe’s Zeus, and ends with the reveal of Jane Foster’s Mjolnir as the new Thor.

It’s unclear if this is the same Jane we know from previous Thor movies, or some variation from a parallel reality. In the comics, Quake finds Jane after Thor is deemed unworthy and diagnosed with breast cancer. He blessed her to use his name, calling herself “Odinson” to avoid confusion.

“Thor: Love and Thunder,” which also got its first poster on Monday, is actor Chris Hemsworth’s fourth role in a standalone Thor film. Taika Waititi, who directed 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, also returns.

Other familiar faces include Tessa Thompson as Asgardian King Valkyrie, Natalie Portman as Jane Foster and Chris Pratt as Peter Quill, among others. Joining the cast are Klaus as Zeus and Christian Bale as God the Butcher Gore. Marvel unveiled a slew of merchandise on Wednesday that showed us Gorr and revealed that Jane’s heroic personality is officially called The Mighty Thor.

However, before Thor: Love and Thunder came out, there was still plenty of MCU action for fans to consume. Moon Knight is currently streaming on Disney Plus, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6, and Ms. Marvel launches on Disney’s streaming service on June 8.
